Using OBD1 p30 ECU in a OBD0 CRX with complete harness changeover? HELP!
Hey guys, I started a wire tuck, now I'm in deep.
I have an 88 Dx and I am putting in a B20v (b16a3 plus b20 block.)
I have spent 700usd on Hondata s300 + o2 sensors etc etc.
I want to drop my b20v into the CRX with a complete wiretuck.
I can tuck the headlight/turn signal/horn/high-beam wiring just fine. As far as the interior, I want to use the CRX combination switch (turn signals/lights/wipers etc) and the CRX cluster for the tach/speedo/gas gauge etc.
What's the easiest way to make this work? I can use my OBD1 B20v engine harness, and my chipped p30 ECU, but then how do I hook up the dashboard/wipers/lights/horn/gas gauge/temp gauge etc?
Just a few side notes...
-The entire interior of the car is being gutted (except the dashboard.)
-Everything in the bay will be gutted before b20v goes in.
-I have an OEM honda wiring manual (200+ pages) I can use to figure out wire colors and where the wires go.
-I will be relocating the fusebox/most harness wiring INSIDE the cabin (battery too)
-I will be removing the climate control system (including A/C, blower/fan/most ducting/climate control in dash
-Because of this ^^^ I will have plent y of room under the dash.
Should I just hacksaw through my CRX harness near the ECU and pray that I will be able to discern which wires/colors go to what on the P30 OBD1 ecu and hope I can get all of it hooked back up properly?
I can provide pictures of anything needed. My turnaround time is about 12 hours AT THE MOST for any additional information needed - I am working in the shop right now and I am here 9-5 every day GMT-10.
Thanks for ANY insights or suggestions!

i would use the stock crx harness, and the stock engine harness and modify it to fit the b20, and then get the obd jumper harness for the distributor and ecu.
i also assume that you are doing a non street race car, make sur eyou got a good sealed battery box that vents outside the car, not one of those cheap marine boxes.

Don't try to use the engine harness from the b20. You'll have a much harder time trying to make the obd1 harness work in the car than you will making the obd0 harness work on the engine.
As said above, use the OBD0 cabin and engine harness and an OBD0 DPFI to OBD1 ECU harness. This will make things MUCH easier and easier to troubleshoot when you have problems. If you still decide to use a complete OBD1 harness, make sure you use the obd1 fusebox with all relays, etc.. then just compare the pinouts on the EF combination switch, etc. to match them up to the OBD1 wires.
Okay so it sounds like the winning strategy is to use a.....
OEM crx cabin/dashboard/interior harness
OEM crx engine harness w/modified distributor plug
Then use a conversion harness to plug in my obd1 p30 ECU.
Where does that leave me for VTEC and DP/MPFI extra wiring I keep hearing about?

You'll want to do the MPFI conversion before anything else.
If you use a RyWire obd0-1 jumper it'll have the necessary vtec wiring as well.

what about the harness the guy hamotorsports linked to?
it didn't look like i needed to do any dp/mpfi conversions, it was just a plug and play harness adapter for my obd1 ecu.
i like the products, but it seems like rywire is selling a name which makes their products quite a bit more expensive.
thanks dude.

the one that was linked, is a modified obd0 to obd1 ecu jumper which still leaves you to have to do all the necessary wiring on the engine harness side. even more work is needed since you want to go the tucked route. check out my link below and you will see all the available options in my photo album of how you can go about making your motor work.

Hey I'm sorting out the nightmares of the previous owners' wiring attempts on this 88 DX.
I'm not sure what these extra wires he hooked up are, but is this a DPFI to MPFI conversion?
I will be re-wiring all of this and re-building the harness for a tuck, but maybe you can help me figure out what's going on here....
Thanks so much.
Wires on the main plug....

Wires on the two black plugs...

Looks like some wires go into the distributor...

And some go towards the injectors...

Then disappear under the intake manifold....
