Default Need help choosing tires

I need help choosing a tire. I am trying to stick with 235/40 summer tire on a 17x9 wheel. Budget $500-600. It will be a street car, and a few trips to the drag strip. 2008 supercharged Civic Si making 300whp/200trq.

Knowing what kind of car these are going on is rather essential.

Assuming you want to stay with a summer compound, look at the Dunlop Direzza Z1 StarSpec on the high side (price wise) and Yokohama S.Drive as more reasonable but with less grip.

Yeah summer compound. Will the Star Specs be good for straight line drag? I thought those were mainly for cornering, like on a road course.

I was very happy with my Z1 Star Specs, given the nature of on-road and track driving I did. I'd recommend them to most anyone.

+1

Short of a race compound (or unless you go up to the slightly stickier Bridgestone RE-11 or Yoko Advan Neova AD08for more $$$), these are a good bet

x2

Z1 Star Specs is a great tire in the dry and wet, and for the track too!
