safety bolt on steering stem? (fabrication)
from what I've seen, the lower triple tree is not pressed fitted to the steering stem but welded. I'm using parts from different bikes (please save the safety talk for another day)
The steam is chrome-molly and the triple tree is aluminum. I got a close press fit but i don't trust it 100%. My idea was to tap the lower portion of the steam and put a bolt through it. sorry i would have done the picture in CAD but paint was all i had access to at the moment. i know the bolt will be added weight so im hoping to find a hollow bolt or a really short one at the very least. what are your thoughts on this? is there a better way?

bike gets delivered (i moved) in about a week so the project will continue after almost 9 months off.
