Is it possible for a starter bolt to come out on its own
So I just went outside like an hour ago and just got back inside the house so here is my dilemma...
My car started with a khhhkkhhh sound and i was like wtf so i shut it down and tried again and than i just heard KHHHHHKKKKHHHHHHHHHHK had my girl jump in the driver seat and crank it while i looked under the hood bam its the starter.... its popped out on one side i looked at it and notice the bolt was missing...
I said to myself okay wtf happened to this bolt than I look at the other bolt that's holding it closer to the head of the motor and I see a silver scratch and as I recalled earlier when i bought this starter from the Junkyard it didn't have that scratch on it...
Investigating further on its a crack all the way trough the metal almost to the other end so I took out that bolt and put it where it was missing. So what I concluded when that bolt somehow magically came out the other side that had the bolt holding it just kept getting whaled on and it cracked...
so my original question is how can this even happen how could of that long bolt backed out by itself. I did replace the starter 4 months ago I got it from the junkyard and it came off a car with low miles another D16Y7 Tranny the starter was perfect. It took me 20 mins to replace the starter with a new one I was careful I didn't torque them down though which was my mistake but I did tighten them down tight very tight it wouldn't budge anymore if I tried to go any further. So how could this bolt back itself out it didn't snap because i have another in its spot. I did try to use my integra bolt from its starter but it wouldn't fit.
Is this even possible or did someone mess with my car which is kind of logical because once i came into my car my mirror was moved and my wheel was locked in place but nothing was missing nothing looked like it was broken into. I do have an alarm on my car and its pretty effective and it has never went off in the middle of the night the dogs never barked I usually hear them upstairs in my house, and they sleep by the window and they get loud so I don't know what it can be
Sorry that this is long but I would like to make sure I didn't miss anything out.

If you take the starter apart the part that actually holds the starter to the transmission seperatrates

They can back out, sometimes the starter is not fully seated and the bolts are tight at the time you put them in - then work their way loose. It is one of the few things that will physically break a starter. It happens...
When installing things like this, never hesitate to wiggle, tap, bump, or otherwise ensure that the part is fully seated. Also, the threads in the block or transmission could be weak/bad. Maybe the bolt had faulty threads - hard to say.
Any parts on an engine are liable to vibrate loose if they can.

Ive had a power steering pump come un-done..... Even though it doesn't seem like the motor is vibrating/shaking/moving etc.....it certainly is.
so yea, its possible---would I tighten the bolts once a month? not me personally. I try to do the hand check on things when I am under the hood though....
