Default Windshield/Glass Scratch removal polish

My windshield had some scratches in them, so I tried sanding with 1000grit paper and some rubbing compound, but now it a much of tiny scraches (only see at night). I saw the glass scratch removal kits, but do they work good? Is the rubbing compound with those more abrasive for glass, can regular rubbing compound work? I want to do this with all my glass to make is look mint.

Depending on the depth of the scratches, doing this can cause distortion in the glass which looks bad and impairs visibility.

They have compounds that are more abrasive for glass. Glass is some of the hardest stuff out there, so the compounds are MUCH more abrasive than the stuff intended for paint (even 3m superduty). Needs to be applied with care. Cesium oxide is one material that can be used to abrade superficial scratches out of glass.

Yep, I learned that it does impair your vision, when ever there is another car with headlights on coming toward me in the other lane, it's just a blurr. Guess I will look for some of that compound for glass. Anybody else have any ideas?

It's not really worth trying to repair it when a new windshield is $100-200...IMO

New windshield is $200 + $50 moulding + tax, I just need to fix it enough so I'm not blind when driving at night. Can't afford a new one right now, so might as well try the cheap solutions.

Call around and try to get a better price, or you could also get a used windshield for a lot cheaper. Also, if you just want to fix it so you can see then you can skip the $50 moulding.

Glass repair is not a good idea...

I would give it a shot at resurfacing before replacing. If it works out, great! If not, you're not out much money.
