motor runs fine, vtec kicks in and there is no CEL but it will not rev past 6500 rpm. I had checked the timing, changed out the rotor button and cap, new wires, plugs, fuel filter, and a fuel pump.current engine mod is skunk 2 intake manifold, aem cold air, tri y header and exhaust, chipped ecu.

 

Any chance the tach reads incorrectly? Very common issue.

 

take your ECU out and look to make sure there isn't any scorch marks....and look at your chip, also try a friends ECU if you can to cancel that out.

 

tried my cousins ecu and its doing the same thing. Will try the dizzy next.

Yes,vtec does engage

 

Had this happen recently to my d16 and couldn't find the dam issue. Check your fast idle valve. Was my issue. Not even Honda themselves could figure it out. Wouldn't rev past 5800 though for me.
