Some of the guys on my Chump Car team are trying to figure out a way to stream in-car telemetry from the car back to the pits.
What systems are you guys using, if any.
One of the guys found an Android app called Torque Pro that would work IN the car, but he's trying to figure out a way to have it send the data to a phone outside the car...

At the moment, we have the race cast app that just streams race info. Car order, laptime, fastest lap, etc...

Maybe give Motec or Tag-McLaren a call. Perhas Pi/Cosworth if those guys can't help. Are you loking for two-way or just one way telemetry?

At the moment, I'm trying to find an app that might be able to view the phone display remotely from another smart phone or laptop.
Looks like this might fit the bill:

This is a Chumpcar team and you want to use Motec/Pi? There is no easy way on the market to send telemetry to the pit on a budget since nobody has the need. I've used Bosch and Motec, both kits are extemely expensive, and much less useful than you'd think. How about a radio and a good dash? "How's the oil pressure?"... "fine."

Thats what i was thinking Matt....
A bit over kill for what you guys are doing.
Maybe invest in a used in car communication system.. plenty of those on ebay.

I think you place too much trust in what isnt proven or would give you false readings.
Nothing better than a driver giving you feedback on what is happening with the car.
Asking too much of something that isnt worth the effort to use.
A radio upgrade would be money better spent.

Im sure its just a matter of time, I like lo-buks comment lol I guess I could stream to the pits or to my wifes phone lol.

Mylaps.com has it on their site and some tracks are already using it.
The organizers did a great job in setting up several antennas, and dividing the use to a set number of teams...
That helps kill some boredom.
I just dont think you can get telemetry from the car to your pits in a cost effective way.
Lets face it... its chump car not American LeMans.

At the moment, we're using the standard gauges, plus analog gauges for oil pressure, water temp, voltage and boost. I wired up my MyChron gauge for lap times, but since it's running off battery power, it would shut off after 10 minutes (most kart races that I used it for were shorter than that so it was never an issue)
I really was joking about the Motec stuff for Chumpcar. I mean, come on. McLaren???
Perhaps a cheap solution might be to buy a security camera system that works Wi-Fi with perhaps even a range booster, and put that in the car looking at the display of the data screen, and send via a wireless router to a laptop in the pits. Might only work while car is closing in on the pits, but would be very cheap. And that way you are just sending video and not data, so no special software needed.
Oh, and make sure to encrypt your data so your competitors don't find out your car's vitals and change their strategy!

I know there's a guy on the sandbox that's working on a wireless system so you can live stream video feeds from a GoPro. Then drivers can get tips over the radio from a coach that isn't in the car.
Using the benefits from my amateur radio license, I can broadcast video/audio low power transmitter on channel 47.
The standard GoPro outputs are fed to the transmitter, to onboard antenna, to TV antenna, to TV. Signal gets a little fuzzy behind hills.
