MPFI. Car wont turn over. I do have spark and the engine cranks.
Ok.
First issue was with the fuel injectors spraying eveywhere. Replaced all of the o rings and got that to work.
next issue. Car cranks and there is spark but thats it.
I trouble shooted the distributor. I have 12v and ground from the 2 white wires so those are correct. Opened up the distributor and checked the wiring in there. Took out each plug, connected a spark plug to it and ground the plug and got spark.
The ecu is not showing me any codes, there are no flashing lights.
What could be the problem?
There is a leftover plug thats ontop of the 3 plugs. If standing infront of the manifold the plug is to the dside, behind the manifold. There are two wires that come out from the manifold and then get connected to a white harness. The wires are.. Blue and then black with either a white or yellow stripe. I have no idea where this plug connects to. I have a 1991 std civic.
All help and trouble shooting with me much appreciated! Thank you

the blue and black wire with the yellow strip connect to a black and orange wire on the harness it goes to the tandem valve
Ive read in multiple write ups that the tandem valve isnt connected. Thats one of the 3 plugs that are not reused. Please clarify.
Thanks
Thanks

Thank you. I will check that out in the morning but i dont believe that this would cause the car not to start.

Ok.. this is how the plugs are wired.
From the timing belt to the distributor. 1 2 3 4. They go from right to left in that order.
At the distributor. If you are staring at the distributor. Bottom left is 1 and then next to it is 2. Above 1 is 3 and 4 is given.
Thanks

Yes, no fuel or spark with a bad main relay. Your firing order is correct. What about the mechanical timing of the motor?
wouldnt the car start even if the timing was off? I read that the distributor could have been installed incorrectly but I am getting spark. I search but couldnt find any solid info on how to properly install the distributor.
Thanks
Thanks
As for that mechanical timing, I'm referring to the crank/cam alignment. It's easy to check by removing the upper timing belt cover exposing the cam gear. Rotate the crank to TDC (the little mark that's all alone on the harmonic balancer, not the 3 marks that are together) with the up arrow on the cam facing up and the 2 lines on the cam gear should be straight in line with the head surface.
And just to be sure about the ignition timing, while you're at TDC, pull your cap off and make sure the rotor button is pointing at the #1 plug wire.
