Default Accord struts are shorter?

So my buddy said he had 93 Accord struts on his EG coupe, and he said they were shorter than the Civic ones so he could sit lower. Has anyone heard of this and is it applicable on the 6th gen Civics?

Then what would the advantage be for doing that?
