Default Air brake on a honda?

I've been searching and I can't seem to find anyone who has done this. I would like to try to fab one up from a carbon fibre wing I have laying around but I'm thinking on what the effect would be. Does anyone know if it would be effective for braking distances?

how would you make it go up or down?

Probably pneumatic pistons strong enough to resist wind speeds. I would wire it up through the brake pedal so whenever I braked hard it would activate

Where would you be going fast enough for this to be useful? Are you planning on trapping over 150?

Well that's what I was asking, I'm sure it would increase stability and downforce. But I wasn't sure what the effective range was.

I think you might want to consider how extremely un-aerodynamic civics are before you go worrying about putting Bugatti Veyron inspired parts on it.

Having an air brake doesn't mean squat if enough air isn't being channeled to it via the other curvatures of the car.

The area behind the rear windshield acts as a kammback, which creates a vortex and reduces drag.

However, an air brake on a Del Sol wouldn't do much unless you were traveling extremely fast. If it's a drag car, and you are traveling extremely fast, you may want to just consider a chute.

As for downforce, that's what you don't want back there. It's a FWD car, so you want to focus your downforce over the front wheels.

I often travel in excess of 100mph and would like better braking and stability. And its something different. Even if its not effective, its still cool Haha.

You should just consider a spoiler instead. Unless you have access to a wind tunnel and can do some designs, an air brake would be ineffective. If you have the money, I would actually spend it on a rear diffuser and front splitter for stability. Air channels to reduce drag under the car, etc. Will definitely make the car more stable than an physical air brake wing.

I'm curious as to where you go 100mph "all the time" legally.

Anyways, I found a good price on some high speed linear actuators. I have all winter and a nice garage, I'm going to try it

The whole concept sounds like it was not thought through at all.

I'm pretty good with fabrication and understanding physics and mechanical systems. I actually did a bit of research. If it doesn't turn out as I planned, oh well. I still tried something new.
