INTAKE MANIFOLD SUGGESTIONS?
Edlebrock and Skunk2 are the 2 to look at. More info on your set up and goals though. Unless you are going to P&P the head, cam and increase compression or boosting then you will have little to no gains with a aftermarket intake mani. Do IHE and tune, first things to start off with.
Yah i was looking into the skunk2 IM ...d16z6 motor full exhaust, short ram intake. just looking increase performance with bolt ons, chip, tuning for now. but an all motor build later.
Even with a tune you're not going make any decent power on ANY D-series. And not much more for an N/A D-series build either.
LOL...I knew someone would come on here saying "waste of money" - "boost it or nothing" - this is true...however do what you want bro!! Just dont go around thinking its badass or trying to race v8s and v6s!!...unless you do a fly by!! LOL!!!
Anyways for a GOOD IM...as mentioned above...Skunk2!

ignore ignorance...
stock z6 manifold or if you must buy a manifold edelbrock
junk2 manifold and 68mm tb??? you loss all your torque kid so all you feel is "top-end" pull you didnt gain untill 7000+ rpms and noise but LOSS hp and torque down low and mid range... you fail-port matching only works for N/A cars. a stock throttle body flows good enough for a d-series car

Yeah ignore all the haters YEAH they know what they're talking about but the kids that say buy junk2 mani or a edlerblock mani for a d series are right! they have to be they have it on their cars so they has to work cause they already spent all the money on it so they believe it works lol placebo owns j000 guys.. No... point in upgrading the manifold the stock one is just fine you can get a bigger throttlebody from a B20 or a b18 and match the manifold side for the port and you will gain something nothing much but it will cost you 20 dollars vs 400 for some junk that you don't need
I agree. I had a stage 2 cam, skunk 2 IM, I/H/E, and my y8 was slow as *****. It had more pep when stock. I ended up pulling the IM off and installing a JRSC. That was a fun car.
Aftermarket IM on a non turbo'd, or fully built N/A vehicle is just not worth it unless you want bling.

Grumblemarc speaks truth. My DSeries N/A project is gonna cost around 20,000 dollars. Dont start what you cant finish in my opinion dude. Its not worth a thousand bucks to do i/h/e/tb/im for like 10hp give or take. If your gonna do the whole motor though, go for it!!
To answer the question id go with Skunk 2. with a stock or b16 throttle.
But to say the very truth its gonna run you around 180 ish give or take.
Stack some chips and piece together a turbo kit bro and get it tuned.
D16z6 + turbo === Fast car...
I had a zc 1.6 with d16z6 head with a small junkyard turbo kit with 45 dsm injectors and a tune. it made 254 hp on 9 psi. I spend little over 350 for the complete kit. excluding injectors and tune. and id smash b series and kept up with stock STI's 1st 2nd 3rd

there is a 700hp+ ek hatch in the for sale thread for $25,000 i bet it would spank the hell out of your $20,000 d and you get the whole car!!! for only 5k more
The Y8 intake is a little better. The Edelbrock manifolds are going to kill bottom end, but would be good for turbo motors on drag cars.
Boost or nothing on D series. They just don't respond well to bolt ons.
