Default this dont look right - gsr head - possible crack w/pics

i just bought this head last night and on the passender/distributor side it seems like it is cracked or has a hole on the bottom of the head. i assume that this is above where the coolant will flow so this is not a good situation. think i can have the machine shop weld it shut or make a tiny aluminum piece and weld it??? i really dont wanna be a dick to the guy i got it from and MAKE him gimme my money back - i would rather keep the head if i could get it easily fixed. thanks

obd1 gsr head complete minus distributor, skunk2 gears, earlier blox IM

that's normal. it's just a drain hole.

It's just an oil drain-hole. I'll bet you've got another one just like it at the other end of the head.

There's quite a lot of casting-flash in that hole.

thanks!! whew!!!

the one on the other end actually DOES look like part of the casting but the one in uestion looks like a piece of metal went flying thru. its been 6 years since i had a dohc build and i was worried this morning after i took a good look at the head so i figured this is the best place to start as always. thanks Tegger
