Default Bad PCV valve and Black box = oil loss

well today i have a bad day. drove the crx on saturday to and from work. no problems. sat in the garage all day sunday. went to drive her to work today. i notice a slightly odd noise. think nothing of it. so i start to drive to work, come to a speed bump and my oil light flickers on for less than second. i think its a glitch, and keep driving. come to a stop sign, same thing. so i pull over pop my hood and see my motor covered in oil. quickly drive her back home and park her for the day. got home from work worked checked things out. and looks to be some oil near my pcv valve (more than anywhere else). so i add in oil to get her back to full, start her up and see oil squirt out from the pcv valve. i checked everything out and it all seems good. could a bad black box (idk techinal name for the box on the back of the motor).

hard to tell but look very closely at the 14 second mark

Well it's "gross" that's for sure.

I can't really see much in that video on my phone.

But the black box doesn't have anything in it so it doesn't go bad. It has baffles which, I doubt, but could get clogged with dirty oil gunk, I suppose. The purpose of the black box it to baffle and restrict oil from making its way through the PVC into the intake.

The PCV is a value which opens when pressure in the block exceeds a certain threshold to release that pressure and because of the excess pressure it is finding a way out. Based on what you are saying I suspect that the PCV is gunked closed or you have a blocked hose. Take the PCV out. If it doesn't rattle when you shaked it, pony up the 3 bucks for a new one. Blow into the hose to the intake and the hose to the black box. You should really feel any restistance. If you do, you have a clog which will need to be cleared.

My three cents. Post what you find out.

By the way, I find getting the box on and off is a major pain in the rear.

Already ordered a PVC valve at my job, it's gonna break the bank. Looks like no Christmas presents this year. Lol
I took it off my spare b18c seems very easy. I'll swap them out tonight when I get home from work.
