Default 97 moderate oil leak & cooling fan problem

Hey, I just recently bought a 1997 Accord Ex and I have a oil leak what seems to be the oil pump area (Drivers side next to oil pan) and idling it for about 20mins left me a good sized puddle underneath. I also have a cooling fan problem. The fan turns on when its supposed to but it doesnt shut off when I shut the motor off and it runs my battery dry. So basically everytime i go out and I park the car and shut it off, I have to unplug the relay sensor just for it not to kill my battery. Are these problems easy to fix myself or would i have to go to a professional to do it? If so, is there a general amount i'd have to send on getting my problem resolved? Sorry if this all has been answered before, i searched but could not find anything that related to my problem. Thanks in advance.

Oil leak could be a front main seal, oil pan gasket, balance shaft seal, balance shaft drive assembly seal or camshaft seal.

There are two fans. Are both stuck on? Do they come on when you start the car cold? There is no fan relay sensor. There are two fan relays and a separate sensor.

No. only one stays on. its the one closest to the resevior. when i turn the key then turn it back into lock position the fan comes when its cold and does not shut off.

Sound like the relay is stuck. I would switch the relay with an identical one such as the other fan relay (they look the same) and see if the problem follows the relay.

If both fans stayed on it would likely be a different problem since there are separate relays for each fan.

I'll give that a try tomorrow. By that do you mean the ECT sensor?

To find that oil leak, I would take the timing belt cover off and inspect there, after inspecting the oil pan gasket if that is dry and doesn't seem to be leaking from there.

I was going to grab a UV kit and test it out that way

No need to waste money on a UV kit.

1. Inspect pan gasket, if that's okay...
2. Remove upper timing cover to check cam seal, if that's okay...
3. Remove the belts, crank pulley, and lower timing cover because the leak will be the oil pump, front main or balance shaft seals.

I wouldn't worry about the ECT sensor since only one fan stays on.
