Default oil pressure switch question

I found out where my oil leak is coming from and it seems to be the oil pressure switch. I was told that I could put some tephlon tape on the threads, but the only thing is I think it would get to hot for the tape. so my question is should I just replace it and spend the few extra bucks on it or should I use the tape? i just want to do what will last the longest

replacing it will last the longest. i wouldn't really feel safe using teflon tape for something that important.

go to ace hardware or your local home depot and pick up a roll of YELLOW teflon.

this yellow teflon is made to withstand heat,oil,petroleum.....etc

good luck.

If its leaking and its old its not leaking from the threads so all the tape in the world won't fix it. Its leaking because the rubber diaphram inside broke, fix it its easier than blowing an engine.

I agree. Just replace the part. You will lose some oil in the process, though, so have an oil pan ready.

Even some new ones won't have thread sealer on them. Just be sure to put thread sealer/teflon tape on it before you put the new one in.
