Default Tapping/Knocking

Hey all, you probably opened this thread thinking you could write 'rod bearings' and my problems would be solved, this is however, not the case .
I have a 96 spec ITR, with a freshly rebuilt (550 miles) B18C. The engine is running great besides a little valve lash noise. The only problem I have noticed is that after the oil light has distinguished and the oil pressure is above 80 psi on a cold start, there are between 4 and 6 knocks, fairly deep and noticable. The car unfortunately ate an oil pump, which I know is not uncommon on a fresh build, and has now been replaced. All bearings and the crank were inspected and were unmarked.

I remember my old engine making the same sound before I did my rebuild. Anyone got any ideas what this noise is or how to stop it? I have a friend with a UKDM ITR with a b18C6 and his doesnt make the sound. This is literally making me want to tear my hair out thinking there could be something wrong with the engine before 1000 miles, and is putting my 2012 Nurburgring trip at risk

Any advice and opinions are greatly appreciated

Al.

Can you isolate the source of the knocking any better with a stethescope or the old screw driver to the ear trick? At lease isolate the source to the head or the block.
