What summer tires are most R onwers using now?
I'm speaking of 205-50-15's and thought those here could shorten my search for a good set of erasers. I know there are plenty out there in that particular size but maybe someone can give me some advise from experience.
The last set I bought were Falken 215's (yeah it's been a while) but just really not sure what to get now. Thanks guys.

the two i have tried are the yoke ad08 and kumho xs.
ad08
superior in the rain
longer life
easier to control at the limit
similar straight traction
XS
slightly higher overall G limit
shorter life
less warning when they are going to let go
worst rain performance vs ad08, re11, star spec
the yoke ad08 is really amazing with the mileage it gets. i have 14k on a set and they still aren't at the wear bars. i could really see 20-22k miles per set. the kumho xs is a 12-15k mile tire

I actually think that re-11s are the best tires I ever had on the car (and I had a few)

Thanks a bunch for the input guys. I really had no idea what to look for since my caR has been down for so long. I really hope to start on this thing soon.

what kind of mileage are you guys seeing with the star spec and re11?
at first i figured this class would all wear the same.
after driving 2 of the 4 top tires the difference is pretty substantial
also should note that these tires really need to be above 50deg outside, above 60deg is better. you can notice a pretty big drop in traction if you drive them in the 40s or below

I'm using RE11's as well. It seems like such a natural progression to put these on the car since they are clearly the evolution of the RE10 line.

Re11, Rs-3 (can be had in 225/45/15), star specs and ad08. Ad08s are wearing better than the star specs. My alignment was screwed when I had the re11s so they didn't last too long

I feel like my AD08s got chewed up a bit too fast on track. But that might be from lack of front negative camber. I think that the tread blocks on the AD08s are a little too small. Great tire grip wise, though. Work really well in the rain also.
I use Direzza Z1s on my S2000. I think I got 10-15k miles, 6.5 track days, and two 5-10second long burnouts outta them!!! They wear like iron. Lots of grip too. Probably my favorite overall tire.

I've had 2 sets and another set that are going on my Regamasters for my summer wheel/tire combo. The best street tires I've ever had were 215/45/16 Falken Azenis RT 615s, until they were discontinued. I haven't had a set of the new Azenis. Maybe I'll switch it up to Azenis again when the time calls for new summer tires.

They're both great tires. If you're just using this as strictly a street car, it doesn't really matter. They're both overkill for just street use.
The AD08 seems to be a bit more "refined" in that it doesn't exhibit as much road noise as the direzza. For the price, however, you can't beat the Z1 starspec. tirerack.com did a test between the RE11, Starspec, AD08, and XS. You should check it out and figure out which categories are important to you.
Honestly, the RE11, Starspec, and AD08 are SO close in actual performance that price is really the only defining characteristic. It's not like RE11 S2000s were any faster around the track than my Z1 S2000. And It's not like Z1 or RE11 ITRs are any faster than my AD08 ITR around a track....in my experience anyway.
The driving "feel" between the tires is even really similar.
