Single cam whupping my twin cam....
So lastnight I decided to try giving a short race on the freeway with my 90 Teggy against a buddy's 94 Civic hatchback with the stock D16y and a Del Sol tranny.... He is pretty much stock motor wise but has an exhaust and ebay intake. My Teggy is all stock as well, nothing has been done to it. What Im baffled is this, we both started at 60 mph with another buddy giving us the flag to haul *** in 3rd gear, my buddy in the Civic cleanly passes and keeps ahead of me until we got to the next freeway overpass. Im baffled by how he was able to keep ahead of me while I was flooring the gas in 3rd, and 4th. Only conclusion I could come up with was that he was starting out in 2nd, double clutching into 3rd and 4th.... or he has some mod he didnt tell me about hah. Any ideas?
Agreed street racing is Le Gay.
But I'd put money down it's the driver and your transmission thats holding you back. Don't forget that you might have more hp but you also are heavier. I'd say do some mods and take it to the track.
Just so you know street racing in any speed range is against the law. You don't have to be speeding...

Oh it was definately his double clutching that did it! Hahah what are you driving a tractor trailor? I don't know anyone that double clutches except for old people or people trying to make their tranny's last forever.

And to correct anyone, I didnt double clutch or do any fancy foot pedaling, just floored the gas and popped gears as fast as I could into the next. Im a more "seasonal" shifter than my buddy is and have a more range experience driving manuals in most circumstances (off roading, tractor driving, slow cars, fast cars, jimmy-jammed tight-assed clutches, weak clutches, etc)
We said that because you said the only reason you think he beat you was he double clutched 3rd and 4th. Which would in turn, make you shift much slower, but hey, to each his own.
