My friend drove his car into a puddle having cai in the car. the car took in water into the engine. oil leak what he told me first. The car sat for 5 days. I went to check the car. wanting to fix it hoping it doesnt have hydro lock. has no oil so i fill just a little bit. start the car. it started but the engine started shaking erratically n sounded like miss firing. so i shutted off. the car starts yes. but what could be the problem?

 

Pull the spark plugs out and look in to the combustion chamber with a flashlight. If the engine took in water, my guess is that it hydrolocked and damaged a rod or valve.

 

with hydrolock the car still starts?

 

If it dried out, it could. You let the car sit after the car locked... so who knows if it had a chance to air out. As long as there is fuel and spark, it could fire on 2 or 3 cylinders.

 

Just checked. the sparked plugs were rusted. the water must of dried up. the car starts np. just engine shakes like crazy and idal rough.

 

Did you check inside the combustion chamber for damage? Look at the piston tops for damage from impact.

 

Is there a guide. I found one for valve clearance. Could take it off but might need torque spec to put back on

 

Well, you should see damage without needing to remove the head.
