1992 Accord Bent Exhaust Valve
Hi all, new to the Honda forum...new to fixing Honda's but not an entire newb to the internal combustion engine. This old car was given to me and has nearly 360 000 km on it so I won't be too sad if I have to invest a small amount of money to fix the valves.
Anyway to make a long story short I'm pretty sure I have some bent exhaust valves as a result of an improperly installed rocker arm assembly (MY BAD) after replacing the spark plug tube seals. The reason for me to believe that valve(s) are bent is they tend to hang up after being depressed. I can loosen it just by tapping the spring with a screw driver and it pops back to the closed position.
1. Can I replace JUST THE VALVE? I figure I need another 6-8 months of driving out of this thing then it can die forever...again. So if I can jsut do the valve I would be happy.
2. Do I need any other special tools. I know I needed a special valve spring compressor for my 4.6L mustang heads, but these look much simpler...small block Chevy simple!
I appreciate any helpful hints.
Thanks
DL

To replace the valves you need to pull the head. Lot's of work, and it is also possible that the valve guides have been damaged.
Really, if you want 6-8 months out of the car don't waste your time. Just drive it with the bent valves hondas are pretty tough. I wouldn't even worry about it.
