1987 CRX HF Tranny swap problems
I was changing the clutch for a buddy in his 87 HF CRX. Found out the clutch isn't bad. Tranny was leaking through the input shaft. I tore it open and there was some shredded metal, then he tells me its been making a lot of grinding noise. So he buys a used tranny at a junkyard and they said it was a direct swap out of an 87 HF, I didnt pick it up and wasn't there. So got it in and everything hooked up, but the reverse lamp switch. Here I find a difference, the original has 2 switches that look identical and obviously 2 holes to put the switches in. The replacement only has 1 hole which I am sure is for the reverse switch and is on the end cap over the cover of the 5th gear. What is this other switch? Is it needed? I'm sure the other hole isn't there. I have the other tranny. The hole is between the drain plug and the reverse and the replacement is smooth there. I was wondering if it is RPM's, I just dont know. I also thought maybe it was a cali tranny or high altitude. The haynes manual show the reverse lamp switch but doesnt show the other switch in the exploded view, and I cant find a good exploded view online. any help woudl be much appreiciated!!!
