Icon3 Starter problems SOS!!

Hey HT gurus if you guys could chime in that would be great!!!

So I got a 98 ek coupe with a d15b7 swap. I just bought the car about a week ago and it came with a switch that is wired straight to the starter. The switch is a regular on/off switch, I switch it on until the car starts and then I turn it off once the car is started. Well the other day I tried to start my car the other day and it wouldnt start!!! It wasnt the battery because the lights didnt flicker and it wasnt the timing because it was running fine.

The switch is wired like this: one wire that goes to the small post on top of the starter and a wire that goes directly to positive post on the battery. I cant start the car normally with the key it has to be done with the button.

It was all fine and dandy until the starter burnt out TWICE!. Does anyone know I could possibly fix this?? I need my car back because I kinda need it to get to work and school.

THANKS!!!

you definitely need to pull that switch off it seems to be frying your starters and its not good to keep cranking the car with the starter still engaged. I'm sure your reaction isn't fast enough to turn the switch off once the car starts and for a brief few seconds its still engaged when the car is running. you should diagnose the problem without the switch. if could be a bad ignition switch.

Yes definitely get rid of that jimmyrigged bullshit. Get it back to stock and you'll have a much easier time diagnosing. We can't figure out what's really going on besides the fact your setup is ****ed.

I also noticed some of the pig tail harnesses just chillin in the engine bay. Do you think an unconnected plug in the harness could cause the car not to start?

UPDATE:
the starter fuse under the dash is good. When I turn the key I hear the fuel pump prime up, I hear a click when I turn the starter switch, I tried to pump the clutch and still nothing.

Where can I locate the starter relay and fuse box under the hood?
Should I check my grounds as well? Where can I find those?
Where can I find my ignition switch? How can I test it?

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP GUYS!
