This car has an OBDII-a D16Y7 with manual. Everything is stock and was running fine until the transmission blew.

I'd like to swap to an EG VX/CX tranny for better fuel economy.

Questions:

1) What VSS do I use to keep the cluster somewhat accurate?

2) Will the ECU throw a CEL because the ratios are different?

3) What the hell does the ECU do with the VSS signal? I read the entire FSM but I couldn't find the answer. Maybe I missed it.
