Default Wheels on a budget

Hey guys, I just joined this forum a few minutes ago. I've been checking out
the website and I like the community you guys have here. I just have a few questions:

In a week or so I am picking up my ITR from a dealership, got a good deal on it.
I look to change wheels on it, but don't know where to start. I have a budget of under $1000 with wheels and tires, but I don't know if I should get 15's, 16's or 17's or bronze or gunmetal. Any help? Just want it to look clean and not rice.

Hello and Welcome!

What are your plans for the caR?

Track or show?

If you plan to track it, go with 15's.... more tire choices...

16's look good, but are limited to high performance tire choices...

BTW

You must post pics to join this forum..... j/k

I am only 18 and a half...so no track driving just yet, so I'm guessing 16's? I'm an ITR noob so I don't know the radius of the OEM rims. And the car is CY, and it isn't
in my driveway as of yet so no pictures, you'll have to wait!

You are plenty old enough to track your car... In fact I would say keep it like it is and spend the money on track time.... It is not as expensive as you may think...

However if you do want to wait... 16x7 wheels in a 40 to 45 offset with a 215-45-16 tire will be ideal....

Both similar styles, and color but which would look better/better quality?

Why don't you just use the stock wheels for now. They are somewhat lightweight and you're paying for them, so use them.

Then when you decide what you want to do, buy wheels that will work with what you need.

Sounds lke you're just itching to spend money on different wheels. If you really want to do something that will help the car, buy better tires.

I think I'll save up for Buddy Club Spec 3 then. Probably makes more sense than wheels...

Honestly, if I were a new ITR owner, I'd do two things "performance" immediately (assuming the car was bone stock and has been kept up in maintenance):

1) New Koni Yellow shocks

2) New hi-performace tires (in a 205/50/15 or 195/55/15)

Don't waste your money on a loud exhaust that'll only give you a few HP or some blingin' wheels that'll add weight and hurt performance.

Enjoy the car for what it is. The ITR is one of those few cars that is sometimes ruined by mods (or the mods don't do any better than stock parts).

This, so much this. the gunmetal ITR wheels are beautiful enough, put some sticky rubber on them and your golden.

You don't even have the car and you made a thread about wheels? Bad judgement, you're getting way ahead of yourself kid.

I'll suggest you actually obtain the car first.

Koni yellows and ground controls, and new bushings. But if you have to go Wheels and tires, just keep the stock wheels and add Dunlop Star spec tires. Rotas arent a bad choice if you on a budget.

Honestly this thread is useless why do you need us to tell you what kind of wheels to buy?? That's like saying, "can you pimp my ITR out for me". Just get wheels you like. Everyone has there own taste. It don't matter if your rolling on 15s or 18s. Second, I don't want to sound like a d!ck but "You don't even own the itr yet and already your flossing like you do". I can understand if you already have the caR and wanted some info on wheels as far as performance, looks, ect. But I guess you just can't wait!! LoL Post pics of the New R once you get it or Bullsh!t this is!!

First set of wheels for an itr?

15x7 +35 offset

Now if you want to get ballsy, then you can go with 15x8 +24.

with todd on this one, maybe add a k&n air filter and a fresh set of plugs. leave the wheels alone and spend the money on good tires. yoke ad08, star spec, re11 or the kumho xs if you don't get much rain. the koni yellows also are the best shock for the $ made.

NA mods are really not worth it on an R. you will spend a lot of money for very little. to really pick the speed of the car up you're looking at a total build or forced induction. when people say it's a factory race engine....it pretty much is, it's an endurance motor which means toned down to go 150k miles. there are no 200+whp 1.8L B series i know of that can go that kind of mileage. cams are just too aggressive and too many rpms

I ran rota's on my drag ITR for years with no issues. They worked well and I could spend more on tires to make sure the car hooked

Since the OP might be new to owning a car like this, perhaps he should get some security for the vehicle first.
