Anyone ever tig welded brass?
I saw on some sites think one was Lincoln that you can with silicone coated brazing rods. Has anyone here actually done it? Just wondering. The plant manager told me that he wanted to start tig welding brass. I am hoping to get one up on him and get practicing with it. Show him I am even more versatile than he thinks. (He already thinks I am great)
I am the only one in the plant that can tig weld stainless right now. I want to make sure that he doesn't want to let me go after the 30 day contract is up. If you know any resources I should read or sites to go to I would appreciate it.

It's nasty stuff. We shear sheet into strips for filler. Use brass filler because we do those fancy polished brass rails and if you use silicone bronze you'll have a different color band when you've welded and polished.
Also wondering I just got a pair of tig gloves long cuff. Worried about burns from the tig gun. Is that a worry? I see in a lot of the videos that they only use a glove on the gun hand if they use any at all? Won't you get a "Sun burn" off the gun if you don't use gloves? I got one on my neck on time. It wasn't fun at all.
Definitely wear a respirator. I tig'd some brass fittings a few months ago and it sucked. Didn't wear a respirator and felt like **** for the rest of the day. No respirator = nausea and headache guaranteed.
