Actually, if you're not really building out the motor (either N/A or turbo) - you're doing it more for 'pretty' than performance aren't you? The dual runners give you an edge by being tuned for low-end (long runners) AND top-end (short runners).
If you just grab a Skunk (or ?) intake your narrowing down the range the manifold serves you well. Maybe OK if you want mostly hi-revs.. or turbo.
I think that's what the research comment is about.
You may need to read before you have a goal (based upon perf and $, for example).
You need a goal before you start buying parts...
Otherwise, you end up with a mish-mash that may work against itself and cost you both money AND performance.
The stock GSR is a rather nice setup out of the box... ; ' )
