Icon2 Help with a crx AWD conversion.

I have an 89 crx si.I want to do and all wheel drive conversion. But I don't know where to start. I've been told to use and b20 out of a crv or an 88 wangon. But what rear hubs and trailling arms would I need. So I would just like to get the best and the most in formation to do this project so please help me out.

first u need to decide if u wan a 4wd d series or a 4wd b series then work from there. u will need to weld and modify both to fit. i believe the 4wd jdm d series have a cable shifter like the F/h and k series not a linkage type like the b and Fwd d series transmissions.

"It's jdm". LoL
I hope you are a very skilled welder with a great understanding of how a awd car works. If not, you should probably drop this idea and go with something more common.

OP - are you even serious? You sound like my grandchildren trying to pick out an ice cream flavor. You clearly lack the fundamental knowledge to do this swap. Yes it's been done, yes it is extremely time consuming, no there isn't a good way to make it cost effective, and no we aren't going to pay for your learning curve. Nothing is a bolt in swap - everything aside from maybe the engine/transmission mounts will have to be fabricated. You don't even know if it's hard to do a B-swap let alone if a AWD transmission will fit in the stock bay (it's not and it will). I think you get the point... Either take it to a shop or go dream about owning a R34 or something.

I know it's gonna be time consuming and not looking for it to be cheap I know it's gonna cost money. Also did a b16 swap in a civic just have to hook up the vtec. It just something I've wanted to do and I wanted to get some info on the subject before I bought anything.

its been done and there are pictures. If you have welding know how it makes it a whole lot easier. Use the search function there is a thread about this in the fabrication section.

just google AWD crx and you'll get more info than you would here

lit can be done using awd wagon parts but i wouldn't suggest it for anyones first build. and it turns into a huge amount of work trying to go b-series awd. if anyone is serious about this i have a complete awd system from a 88 awd wagon. my project took a different turn and i wont be using it. pm me offers if intrested

OP - Please stop making pointless threads, especially now that we know you are full of it.

Apparently you didn't plan out how much it would cost and the amount of skill needed to take on a project like this.

First off, an AWD conversion is pretty much Fabrication Brain Surgery. You would not go online looking for "How to" information on brain surgery and expect good results.
Second, unless you are a brain surgeon, you would not be looking to attempt brain surgery, you would go to a surgeon (who, BTW, would not be looking to an internet forum for ideas on how to complete your surgery)

Seriously, if you do not have some MAJOR auto fabrication skills, this isn't something you can do. And if you did have the skills necessary to do this, you would not need our help.

If you are "just gathering information", than gather it yourself. Google is your friend. If you say you searched and couldn't find any info, you should consider glasses, as there was another AWD topic on the front page of the forum when you posted yours.

Why? There are options like the AWD Civic Wagon (Wagovan) and the Real Time 4 Wheel Drive CR-V that come factory with this option... One isn't gaining much by doing it to a CRX versus a Civic Wagon that came stock [see Bisimoto's "700hp" AWD Civic Wagon].

Dont mean to correct you oldy but I am 90% sure the bisiwagon is 2wd.

OP I found this in 10 seconds...
http://search.yahoo.com/r/_ylt=A0oGd...hp%3ft=2104408

Its for an ED Hatch but not much difference.
Hope your new Job works out enough dough for this mod....

I don't have any references to back this up either but I think it's AWD, and I hope it is for all the HP it has.

Explains ALOT about the car except if it's AWD or not.

I've seen this done a number of times over the years, but many of the pics are gone.
But I did search and found pics of the awd gsr crx:
http://public.fotki.com/morgie/qsr/m...gsr_awd_turbo/

It's definitely doable, but definitely not for a beginner. Depending on which drivetrain you use, you might be chopping up 3 cars to weld 1 together.
