Default Trying to tighten my throttle cable

Hey im trying to tighten up my throttle cable to the recommended 1/2 inch deflection by honda. I was wondering if i need a new throttle cable, cause i tightend up the slack on it (did some experimenting on 4 diff settings) and notice that the RPMs dont go up at all, no difference. And i know im doing it in the right direction cause i tried going the opposite way all the way to the end and the gas pedal was lose as hell. Scared me for a sec. The gas pedal response is good, (i can gently set my foot on the gas with barely any weight and the car will start to move)

The thing is, when i tighten it almost as far as the bolts can go to the left, i still have about 3/4" slack in it when i check for the deflection. What the hell?

Unless im not checking for the deflection properly. How exactly doyou check for 1/2" deflection? Can i do it with the cable already in and tightened?

What arent my RPMs going up?

The deflection should be 3/8 - 1/2 inch (10 - 12 mm). You check it by gently lifting/pushing the throttle cable between the adjustment nuts and throttle body linkage.

Make sure the throttle valve is fully opening and closing when you press and release the accelerator from full-throttle to idle.

Thanks, so heres a pic I took with the 2 bolts...I untighten the right one first then move the left bolt towards the left and then pull the cable til the bracket hits the left bolt in its new spot and then screw back the right bolt. Is that right?

So im guessing you check for deflection when its not tightened back up? what do you mean between the nuts and TB linkage? Cause all i see is the TB cable on the very left (the thin wire)

You loosen #1, turn #2 until the free play in the throttle cable is within spec, then you tighten #1.

You don't do anything with the area you marked with a blue arrow.

Thats what i thought thanks. So the deflection can be checked as well with the bolts tightened right? I just push on the thin grey wire with my finger and see how much it moves out. Im still getting 3/4 of an inch even though im almost all the way to the left

Can you do me a fav and check in your car right now and see if your cable is sitting off like in mine? Should it be on the metal lever ledge?
