does any of your cars come with a battery tie down? i got my 89 si with no tie down..and was wondering if i want to put one on..are there going to have any holes in for the rod? i tried looking for it and couldnt figure out how it will go on. is it suppose to screw in from the bay..or the plate the battery sits on?
two little hooks reach though the bottom of the battery tray and clamp down on the top edge of the battery. i really suggest you get one..i saw a mid 80s 300ZX one time that didn't have a battery tie down..he hit a bump and the battery terminals contacted the bottom of the hood..caused a spark and massive electical fire, car was toast.

hmm..do you have any pictures? i think i might know what you are saying, but just not sure. thanks.
i was just looking through the engine bay forum for the pictures, most of the cars on there doesnt have the tie down. how come the tie down goes length wise instead of across the battery?

wow, I never noticed that most of the cars in the engine bay picture thread don't have tie downs. That's really strange, they really SHOULD all have tie downs.
anyways. here is a picture of the stock tie down:

I guess you have to have a tie down that goes lengthwise across the battery because that's where the holes in the tray are.
basically, you have two rods, one end of each rod is threaded, the other end of each rod is a hook. you use the hook ends to "hook" the battery tray, and the threaded ends go through the tie down, and then a nut is used to sandwich the battery in place. I hope that helps.

If you need a real/genuine Honda tie down, I happen to have one along with one of the "J" bolts that holds it to the battery tray. Honda actually still has them new in the warehouse. It only works with a Type 51R battery. YES< you really should have something more than a bungee cord holding the battery in the car. (E-mail me if interested in the parts)
