93 prelude engine ticking noise
so i have an h22a swap and when i start the car when its cold it will make a ticking noise. it will only do this when the car is cold. also it sounds like its coming from the passenger side of the car i know that the preludes tick a little when they are stock but mine is ticking even louder. after i did my new 10 LB flywheel swap, i put the tranny back on and then the next morning i started the car up and it was making that ticking noise i torqued the flywheel down to 76 LB but i am not 100% sure if i did the same with the pressure plate i think i just lightly tightened it..
I have a 92 S with an H22A and it ticks as well..especially when i give it gas..mine is coming from the drivers side..havent checked to see what the issue might be if any.
Mine is when accelerating..while idling it doesnt make a the ticking sound..odd..but valve adjustment would be my next step i assume. Its not something id want to dabble in while the car is running fine..but the ticking irks me!!!!

Just make sure you do it when the engine is stone cold, like first thing in the morning before running the car or else you'll F it up.

You leave it, get a ride home and come back the next morning and do it. What I did was I just let it sit all day while I was working then pushed it into the shop where I work that night and did it since 10 hrs was enough to cool.
This tick started right after I replaced my stock flywheel with my.10 lb aluminume flywheel it never ticked that loud it staryed right after the flywheel swap.
hmm..first time hearing this...and do you know the reason for that? just asking. I never knew that and would like to be sure and not think that something may be wrong with my motor. Thanks.
All Honda's with any decent amount of mileage on them tick, LMAs loosen up and make noise. Valve lash goes out of adjustment, and it never gets quite back to stock.
Honda's tick in the head, adjust your valve lash, it should quiet down a bit, depending on how far out of adjustment the lash was. If it still clicks/ticks, its fine.
Its still gonna click/tick, there's a certain amount of travel between the valve and the rocker. What you're hearing is the rocker hitting the valve stem, its designed that way. If you don't believe me, go find a few used Honda's to test drive, some will be louder than others.

Buy a cheap stethoscope and listen to the valve cover, then listen to your tranny area... see where the tick is. GO from there. If it's under the valve cover do a simple valve adj.. if it's your tranny take it back off and fix it. Or drive it till it breaks which is unfortunately what I do.
