Icon7 Can this cam still be used on a turbo car? (Damage Pic)

Can this still be used based on the damage in the photo? It's the intake side of a CTR cam. Opinions welcomed but please be specific in your explanation.

Thanks.

Pic of how the cam sits in the head minus the valve cover

can't, cams are cast and it would also require precision machine work to sit flat again.

hmotors sells individual R cams for less than acura new in the box, just buy one and be done with it

OEM cams are steel. Most aftermarkets are a chill-cast Iron. I'd still find another one. Hmotorsonline has them for 285USD

Ofcourse you can mix and match cams. Do you have adjustable cams gears to tune them for optimum performance?

How did that cam break by the way?

You'll actually lose a bit of power. Find another CTR cam or just get a second GS-R cam and get it together

I have my eye on a set of GSR cams from a friend but also did a bit of searching and came upon this pic of how the cam sits in the head....

So now my question is does that chip affect anything when it doesn't touch anything? From what I can tell the distributor O ring does the task of keeping oil from leaking.. I would just hate to let a blemish stop use of perfectly good cams...

Anytime you take a physically damaged part and put it into a rotating assembly, you run a HUGE risk of damage from additional fatigue from it rotating. All I can do is warn you, DON'T RUN BROKEN PARTS.

If that cam was dropped it may be bent a few hairs. It may be enough to tear intoo the camshaft saddles.

cam wasnt dropped it likely was pulled out of the head incorrectly...even the machine shop guy said he sees it all the time people just put them back in and run them...told me the caps hold in cam but he doesnt recommend putting them back in... was just a stupid situation to be in since i already had a set of GSR cams & the Gsr exhaust cam fell off the shelf in the garage and snapped in half...so now im faced with a GSR intake cam & a CTR exhaust cam....
