Debating between an OEM CTR front lip for my 98 Ex or a EK4 SIR lip painted. My car is Starlight black pearl and I would like postings of a SIR lip painted on a black ek. I already searched and only found it on a Championship White and Midori Green EK but would like to see it on a black one. I wont leave it flat black cus all the trims and moldings are painted. Thanks.

This is a picture of my car with an unpainted SIR lip and painted sides. This is before my front bumper and lip got damaged. For some reason I like the look of paint matched lip.

 

This is the closest I can get. I have a LOT of photos of Civics (most being '96-'00) and I can't find any in my collection of a black Civic with a painted front under spoiler.

Remember that it's the whole package that makes the car look good. Put one nice part on a crappy looking car and it won't look good, so I can't confirm how good this will look on your car. I personally think this car (and really, ANY car) would look better with the lip properly unpainted than painted.

Also, painting it will lower resale value unless someone mistakenly thinks they can successfully remove the paint. Most people do not look to paint these lips.

 

Yeah your actually right the painted SIR lips dont look right. CTR lip might look much better on my car then dont you think? or I should go back to how it was before the accident?

 

With painted sideskirts I'd go with a painted lip. It doesn't look right with an unpainted lip or with no front lip imo.

With a lip as larger as the CTR front lip I feel you need a rear lip too though.

You could always get a cheap set of OE coupe/hatch sideskirts and just rock them until you make up your mind though. And then your car will still match for the time being.

 

In order to get the rear lip though I would need to convert to the 99-00 coupe rear bumper then, well atleast to get the si one. And the thing is the lip got trashed when my front bumper got damaged. So im getting a new bumper and new lip and i have to choose lol

 

I'm on the same boat. And it sounds like the CTR is a better option for what you want. The SiR lip is my fav but it's going to look odd painted and I am against 99% of unpainted front lips. I donno why people like unmatched lines/colors on their bodies but whatever..

Why would you have to convert the rear to a 99-00, is it because you think they don't make replica OEM lips for 96-98? JdmShit has them for 95 shipped. But I disagree that it's necessary.

 

Why on earth would I put a REPLICA lip on my car?? That has to be the worse comment I've ever seen. I'd rather convert the rear bumper and get an authentic lip then ever even think about putting a replica part on my car. I didnt know people openly said out loud that they put replica parts on their car...

 

A rear bumper could be found for pretty cheap. I found mine for $50.

The lips attach to the bumpers differently. This is why people break off the mounting brackets on the 1998 rear lips to fit them to 1999-2000 rear bumpers. They de-value a rare lip to make it fit on one common bumper instead of another common bumper.

 

Yeah I have no problem picking up a 99-00 coupe rear bumper to get the optional si rear lip. I was just a little offended when someone told me to get a replica lip.

Friends Car, unpainted. His first one was painted then he was involved in a wreck and went back to unpainted and I will say this is a much better look. Car is also granada black.
