my question was will a 9 inch wide tire fit on a 98 civic and what is the lowest offset i can go .. not what size you prefer ..lmfao!! but i agree nothing ever bigger than a 17 ever
as far as "fit" what do you mean- you'll have to roll the fenders, and adjust that camber a bit, and depending on the offset might need a spacer/ext wheel studs.
I came into a deal for some 16x9 +30 rims. when put on noticed the inside of the rim was pressed up against the trailing arms- 5mm spacer helped that- then had to go with extended wheel studs as well. Camber kit comes in soon- even at that, they didn't poke out as bad as it seems. this is on a em1 btw.
i can pm you pictures if you'd like.

You can low offset on these cars, but it will require quite a bit of negative camber, and fender rolling.
And that point, your ****ing up the car just to put these peice of **** wheels on it. Is it really worth it?
lmfao!! thats exactly what im saying .. what is the max offset and width i can go without having to roll my fenders or adjust the chamber and all that good stuff.?? i would like to get a 17x9 only cause they had the offset and look i wanted .. seems to me that the smaller the tire and rim the less agressive it looks.. i just want a rim that is gonna look like the ones in the link i posted .. i am planning on getting a 16x7.5 but cant find any with an offset i like
17x9 +20 would look right on an EVO or something, but not a civic. You'd have a tough time making them work, and it would be hellanonfunctional. I put 16x8 +38 on my '99 and it looks very aggressive, and the wheels don't stick out past the fenders.
im looking for a 16x7.5 but i was just wondering what would be the max i can go for offset and width .. i guess the 17x9 was just an example for the offset or the look i wanted ... but thanks lsvtec96hb thats the answer i was looking for
any chance you can post a pic of the wheels ??

There is everything outrageous with a 9" wide wheel on a gas sipping econo-box compact car.
Will it fit? Sure. Will it function? No.
You're basically asking whether or not a hot-dog will fit through the eye of a needle. Will it fit? Sure. But it won't be pretty.
P.S. And you can't have a delicious hot-dog with onion and spicy brown mustard afterward. At least not with any composure.
