I know its almost winter but I have an A/C question
Last summer I tried to fix my ac which I don't know how long it hasn't worked for. But I went ahead and bought a cheap retrofit kit that came with a hose to put in the R134 and some pag oil and fittings. A couple of things I neglected to do was the drier, orifice tube, and all the o-rings. But long story short it stopped working 2 days later. Could there be leak at the o rings? O yeah I did put a can of stop leak and red dye. I couldn't see any red dye but there was oil around the compressor. Is that dye only visible with black light? But there was a big stain right under the compressor the next day, which is still there over 3 months later. Is there something I'm missing? I put in 2 12oz cans of R134. And I can't remember how much pag oil it was a real small can. So is it just the o rings or is it a bad compressor?
One more thing was when I first started the ac no matter it it was on all day or not I got a weird smell kinda like mildew but sweeter, could it be the evaporator.
Please help me out!

You got what you paid for-cheap retrofit kit
.For the real troubleshooting you will have to bring the car to a/c guys. There are too many things involved to make a quick diagnosis!Otherwise said, if you have a small puncture in the tire you can still drive as far as putting the air in it,but it doesn't fix the problem.
yes bad o-rings can allow all the freon and oil to leak out
at this point i would pull every piece of the system and clean the lines, condenser and evaporators, replace the expansion valve and drier and get a rebuilt compressor.
then pull a vacuum and make sure it holds for a few hours, then charge the system with r134.
