Icon6 B18 vtec not working

I have a 99 si with a gsr swap. B16 harness. Obd1 gsr. I bought the car with the swap and the vtec is not kicking in. The guy took the b18 out of his own integra and he said the vtec worked when he had it on the integra. Any one have any clue what could be wrong...besides the oil level.

It threw a code for very small leak detected
Either faulty evap system hose or
Purge solenoid or
Vent solenoid

I have that same code on my gsr engine. For obd1 it's a code 90 and obd2 its p1457. It does not effect vtec at all. Mine still kicks in fine around 4400. If you're not throwing a code for vtec malfunction, then check your oil. Low oil will cause vtec to not operate. Also check your solenoid plugs and such.

I think the guy sold you a non working head. Use a continuity tester for your wiring to vtec like a multimeter or just the simple a light tester to see if you even have current to vtec
