Default Help. I have a problem..Please take a min to look. ThankS

I'm going to try to keep this short and simple and I thank everyone ahead of time just for taking a look at it.

My belt on my car has been squeeling (sp) lately and when it does, the car doesn't seem to move at it's full potential. It squeels for maybe a couple of seconds, sometimes up to a minute. After the squeeling is gone, the car runs normal as it should.

Friday, I went to visit my sister so I left the car at home, unstarted till Sunday night. I come home Sunday night hoping to take it for a spin since I didn't see my baby or sit in it for a few days. I start it up, and it's squeeling like crazy as if the belt was too tight. I let it squeel/squeek and I drive it. I come to a light and I notice it's still squeeking. I floor it just to get some kicks and I take it up to 7k rpms at 7lbs of boost. Everything is fine but it starts squeeking like crazy. Then all of a sudden, every single light dims. Headlights, bumper lights, instrument lights, you name it, it dims. I get scared so I'm guessing that the battery needs to charge itself up a little so I floor it, and the RPM's go up till 4k and it STOPS there. The car just stays at the same speed and I feel bogging. BIG TIME bogging. I keep on trying it and no matter what gear, RPM's won't go above 4K. It just bogs and gives a Blow-off as it usually should. I come home right away, and I let the car sit there for maybe 10 min. Still, everything is dim. I took out the key, and the car just shut off without the turbo timer counting down. I look at it again, and the turbo timer is lit up normally but there is no LCD screen (HKS TYPE-0). The keys are out but the lights in the cluster are on as if I had the key on the "ON" position. I'm not sure what happened so i just unplugged the ignition clip, and the car shuts off...I'm not sure what happend. Did my turbo timer smoke some good crack and fucked up the electrical?

Some people said it MIGHT be the alternator but why won't it rev past 4K. I hope there is somone out there that can help me.

ThankS...Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

definitely sounds like an alternator belt... try to adjust the belt tension first...you can use deflection method..tighten it and then use a mini ruler and push the belt with your finger tip, you should be able to puh it down aboput 5-7mm frrom the regular position, use a slight tension when you push it down...'

CDoome2 had a problem once with alternator belt and causing it not to be able to rev or sumthin pass 3-4K.

try to adjust the belt first to get the squeeling belt problem out...then go from there...

Thanks. What you said makes sense in every way possible. Keep in mind this is an SR20DET. I used to have a civic and I've always found H-T my home. There is no better site. Anyways, I hope that is the reason but why would it not let me go past 4K? I Hope its the alternator belt as well. I wil see first thing tomorrow.

Anyone else suggest anything else?

-ThankS to everyone.

sounds like the altenator or another accessory is starting to seize up. Driving it like that is a bad thing and before you know it its going to be locked. The bearings in the alt are probably going bad.. Go out and smell the altenator after running it for a while and see if it smells "hot".

this happend to me once. except the puleey on the driveshaft fell off because the bolt that held it in came loose.

started with squeeling when i accelerated then one day. "clunk" battery light came on engine stalled. ran down the street to pick up my pulley.

just say no to taiwanese Underdrive pulleys.

but i think it is your alternator bering.

I woke up this morning and fucked around with it. The car doesn't want to start so had to use jumper cables. I gave it some juice from in integra and started it..BAM! Everything is fine...car idles smoothly....everything works/functions properly. But when I disconnected the cables from either battery, my car would just go into that mode again. I connect the jumper cables again, and everything is fine. It seems like the battery is dead or not holding the charge. But if its not holding, is it the alternator or battery? I'm not sure what to do..Can anyone help please?

Thank you for those who answered my questions!

Try starting you car and take the postive cable off, if the car shuts off then you have a bad altenator, if not then you could have a bad battery. Go by advance auto and get them to run a test on the altenator and the battery.

You definitely have an alternator prob.

You will probably have to replace it, i think it's your alternator going bad and not your belts slipping.

Your alternator keeps power to your car after you start it. So if your lights are dim even while driving that's a good sign to replace your alt.

could it be because the belt is hella loose too? its loose now for some reason and I can probably take it out by just pulling it...maybe the pulleys are spinning but the alt belt isnt spinning at the same speed? That's what my good friend suggested..what d oyou guys think/
