Springs Re-Dux
Sorry, as I know this topic has been posted a couple times recently, hopefully I can be specific enough with my questions to get this issue solved.
I am needing to replace the front (and maybe rear) struts / springs on my son's Rex. The car is a stock, 90 CRX base, 1.5 Auto trans.
My questions are:
1. Are the struts and springs from all EFs the same? (Not necessarily different trim levels...i.e Si's, HF's ect, but will base model hatch or sedan springs work? I can't find a CRX in a junk yard around here, but I have found a couple sedans and a hatch.
2. I need this on a budget, so Skunks ect. are out of the question for now. I see tons of crazy cheap adjustable coilovers on eBay for like $50 for all 4. Are these actually worth a damn? Seems waaay to cheap to be of any quality, even for a daily driver.
3. Are there and decent guides out there for replacing stock with adjustables? I am mainly interested in knowing if the eBay springs will work with a cheap, Auto Zone type strut.
I really (cant stress that enough) need this to be as cheap, quick, and easy as possible, as he is driving the car with a busted spring, and budget is really tight this time of year for me. If anyone has a set of just "useable" stock springs, PM me....assuming you don't need an arm or a leg for them.

Yeah, thats pretty much what my thought were.
I am almost baffled at the non-existance of springs out there. I mean, these were a popular car, had several different models that ( I assume) used the same spring, and honestly...20 years old isn't really that old, in car terms.
I spent about half an hour with a guy at O'Reily's and pretty much came to the conclusion...they don't exist outside of performance brands, or OEM. It funny, we found 'em for 1990 Accords, and for 1992 Civics, but nothing at all for anything in an EF from this generation.

Free OLD SKOOL solution: Cut all four to match (depending on how much you cut off depends on ride quality, plus your kids car is lowered hah)
Cheap solution: Ebay brand (expect a bumpy ride and cheap quality)
Decent solution: Universal coils (PM if interested in cheap used set of SKUNK2's off a 90-91 CRX HF)
Welcome to the Honda World and i wish you GL

i have a 91 hatch. slammed on the TYPE RS coilovers that are on it. with stock shocks....needless to say the front end is blown and i can feel a leaf in the road.
at least go with something decent within the $300 range and you will be good.
when it comes to suspension mods, dont go ebay. please. it will save you in the long run and trust me on that
