What are the best Bolt-ON mods for H23A Blue Top Engine??
Looking to get a few options for bolt ons, these are rather uncommon engines as compared to H22A.
What are the best bolt-on mods you can get for the H23A DOHC VTEC Blue Top engine?
Thanks

so I could buy H22A parts and they will fit the H23 just fine? (say skunk 2 manifold?) I was looking at that for one of the first parts. Throttle body, Header, Intake.....
considering this engine is known for god torque, i would buy parts that will add to its powerband. I have seen some nice dyno charts of these motors with euro r intake and a quality header RMF? SMSP? I am no expert on the different headers that are available but just dont go slap a megan one on there. do some research and find out which ones produce the best low to midrange power gains. thats if you are just wanting to do bolt ons and leave the internals alone. if you wanna go further, type s pistons would be next on my list. the a good set of cams, again find some with a good midrange power band. you will love this motor , i have heard nothing but good things about it.
Trending Topics
Euro R intake manifold 330-580cc injectors, 68mm TB, Manual Tensioner Converion, 3" Short Ram Air Intake, Good flowing Header not cheapo atleast 2.5" exhaust system, 3" is best. P28 Crome or Neptune tuned on dyno
H23 valve train & camshafts coming apart. Next is pulling the head & off to the machine shop.

The engine given it's age, is actually pretty clean inside. Most of the gaskets were still good when I pulled it, but those will all be replaced for the re-build.

What is the general consensus on using the stock IM and injectors? Has anyone found the optimal header for this motor specifically? Bisi, RMF and SMSP I presume will free up the most horsepower.
My personal goal is 230whp with about 185 tq at the wheels. I have already seen a lot of 210 to 215 hp dyno charts with bolt ons so I would think the best bolt ons and proper tune for the best available pump octane should get close.
Its pretty interesting reads on Google about the H23A VTEC engines...
Apparently they are pretty uncommon, and not that many people know specs or specifics about this engine other than it is OBD-II, and makes about 200HP / 163 TQ.
Since my engine is torn apart, is there any photos or info I can shed light onto for anyone?
Maybe we can help eachother here....
H23A DOHC VTEC (Blue Top) Photos / Pics:
Pulled the head, removed the retainers/keepers, valve springs & valves. Just need to remove the rocker arm assembly. Headgasket was still in good shape, no missing material or gaps.
The block still needs to be disassembled....ugh! Engine builds are definitely time consuming.

H23 head removed - block

Head with valvetrain

valves no more!
