J's Racing Sausage Review: J's v AEM (Pic Intensive)
Previously the car had an AEM CAI. It took me about 30 minutes to remove the CAI from my dad's car and then another 30 minutes to install the J's. Overall fit and finish is good but the thing I'm worried about is how it just SITS on the a/c lines. My AEM did not like that very much and I hope the J's can handle it. If it rubs a hole in the intake...
I got to drive it around today and the first impressions were not bad. It does seem to offer WAY more throttle response over the AEM CAI obviously but the disappointing thing is that I felt a LOSS of power in vtec. It does not get up there as fast as it used to. Sound wise it's much more quiet and deeper. Still screams but just not like how the AEM used to.
Overall, it's a great intake but it's not exactly made for power. The reason I got it for the car was because of the throttle response and I was tired of the AEM (not of the sound but the throttle response). I expected the J's to give good gains but I guess my butt and revs just don't like it as much as the CAI.
One last thing I would like to add is that the piping seems to get much hotter than the AEM CAI. Maybe the powdercoating of the AEM kept the piping cooler than the J's.

Does rub the spoon bar but lots of layers of tape solved that.

JDM Box! J's racing....MOTORSPORT!
The mounting stuff

Coolio JDM papers
Close up of the pipe (throttle body side)

In its c/f glory
Mmm...JDM packing peanuts...
My dad has not driven the car yet so he cannot comment on it yet but I'm sure he'll like it but he digs the loud CAI sound more.
I would like to thank Leo @ http://www.jdmspecperf.com for hooking up a great deal.
Cliff Notes: Installed J's on my dad's car. Easy fast install. Loss of power felt in VTEC compared to the AEM CAI. Good overall intake. Recommend to those who crave throttle response over power. Ideal for road racing not drag.

glad to see you finally got it installed dennis. you probably think you're not getting as much power from the J's than the AEM because the J's racing power is "always" there as apposed to the AEM kicking in fast and hard after around 4500-5000rpm. the dyno plot graphs, in my very uneducated opinions should look strait and all the way across for the J's. AEM should be very subtle and small at first than a huge increase after 5000rpm. overall i'm impressed and love my sausage, and would not mind having the AEM again as well. both are very good intake systems but as of now i like the J's.
True true...If I was a hardcore drag racing, the J's is definately not the way to go but with the direction I'm headed, the J's is better.

I have no clue where to mount this bracket. Anyone have any ideas where it can mount to and what it could attach to?
isnt the throttle responce better just because it's a short ram... Shouldnt we be comparing short ram AEM to J's?
Not trying to start a war but it just makes sence to me.

Hmm...maybe cause the AEM is a longer tube that is drawing in colder air...therefore cooling down the pipe AND providing colder air.
