So I have searched the net and multiple forums. So I just better ask.

My 02 So hatch. The low beams are very dim. Not at all good for driving. The high beams. Work well enough to drive. I've checked fuses. Put in new bulbs. Nothing same story. The car did have some cheap hid kit installed ...I just unplugged it and used factory stuff. ( hid kit would light up both sides)

As far as the ground cable. I have one going from the battery straight to the engine. Then it looks like I have one from alternater to the body...any ideas please?

 

im not very knowledgeable about HIDs but did you check your ballast?

 

I took hid stuff out.....so its OEM ....don't know where find problem

 

Can you post a picture? If the bulbs are getting power then I don't see why they wouldn't light up to their full capacity.

 

OK does any one know the correct color code to the factory plug? OR what the polarity is.

when testing for power should the test light put out the same amount of light on high beam and low beam? I thought it was up to the bulb .

So I added a ground from battery to engine bay and it didnt get better. But somthing I did notice..

the high beam indicator on instrument panel.

Off with park lights....( dash lights not lighting it up)
On with high beam ( bright )
on low beam it seams to turn on vary faint like the power is bleeding through.

Also when light are on low beam and dim I can pull out the relay and of course one light goes out, but the other gets brighter. does this help?


Still have to drive with high beams all the time low beam couldnt help me find my bumper in the dark...but they both light up.

 

got wiring issues. need to recheck your power and ground-sounds like you got a short.
