Seat belt retracter fuse turning off brake lights and draining battery !!! Help plz
I had a Short with my lx-i when a stupid (but very hot) girl decided to sit on my hood...well she hopped on and the hood sank down and touched my battery causing a short but shocking short in my brake lights, they only come on (all three) when the "seatbelt retractor/horn" fuse is in when i take the fuse out my brake lights DO NOT come on at all. When fuse is in it drains my battery (mind boggling even more). Also when the car is in nuetral and i step on brake ALL the light bulbs come on...the back up lights don`t fully glow but still come on none the less. I did notice the door sensor that reconizes it being shut also doesnt work but with the fuse out it doesn`t drain battery...o.O i know. Every time I put the car in reverse and step on brakes, the "brake Lamp" light sensor on the dash comes on. Can anyone help? Or is it looking like grab a mechanic time? I don`t have a garage, deep knowledge (youtube and research FTW in past repairs to car) or the cash to pay outright for mechanic, would appreciate any advice to DIY. I learn quick and understand faster. Thank you

PS- I have replaced all bulbs, checked for corrosion, checked the toggle switch under steering column for brakes, checked all fuses, always check fluids and leaks/ corroded wires on all visible areas.

Check your grounds, when unrelated circuits effect other circuits, it is almost always because of a grounding issue. 94
Thanks for the advice...anything more specific...since it`s the fuse could it be between the transmission and ecu where fuse is at? Will reply when I get to tomorrow
Start with the main grounds, batt. post and cable clamp, batt. to chassis ground and chassis to engine ground, should be all one cable.
Do not just eyeball the connections, disconnect and clean both contact surfaces, [EG; batt. post and inside of cable clamp] then reconnect and make sure connections are tight. 94

I checked all grounds ( remem I am not a mechanic or have a garage to do full work on due to it being my daily driving vehicle) and its still acting up....everything seems to be just as stock as when I 1st got the car, except for the problem...I am trial and cannot post much more... =( I hope that i don`t have to pay for someone to fix this annoying problem.
All the connections I could reach were inspected for corrosion (as best as any normal joe can) and the clamps and surfaces were filed and cleaned for MAX connectivety.. the battery to chass..to ecu box..and to motor... and again checked all fluid levels and fuses... going to have my dad come over and help me read the manual to use two brains, please feel free to email me pmcarden (at) hot mail.com.. also my msn email.. for right now i only have the 5 posts to make..Thanks for keeping up the help FCM i appreciate any knowledge you or anyone has that I do not =D
