B18a1 oil pan work on B16a? also alternator question.
I have a 91 integra with a b16a, oil pan got busted. I have a friend who is willing to give me a oil pan from a B18a1, i was wondering if it would work (not just if it would bolt on)? i have searched but cant find a definite answer.
Also are all B series alternators compatable? since i have a b16a in a 91 integra would i have to get an B18a1 alternater or a B16 alternator?
thanks

I may be wrong but I think VTEC pans are a little different, but I may be wrong because a lot of b-series parts are interchangable. Do some more research, because I'm not exactly sure, I'm still fairly new to honda's and am not to sure about stuff like that.
everytime i do some research, thats kind of the answer i keep getting. but just wanted to make sure with hondtech. i keep getting that you cant put a vtec oil pan on a non vtec. but that one might be able to put a non vtec oil pan to a vtec engine.
Yea sorry I couldn't be more help, but yea I am pretty sure there is some extra part welded into a VTEC oil pan, but I am sure it bolts up, but I would'nt even bother trying it, don't want to risk it. Just fish out a few bucks to buy a b16 pan. Better safe than sorry, that's my motto when it comes to any parts for an engine, never take the cheap route.
As far as I know all B-series use the same pan except for the GSR and Type-R because they have a crank girdle that requires a deeper oilpan. So you should be good using your friend's pan.
