ITR centercaps discontinued
So I went to my dealer and ordered some centercaps for my 01 R last week and they of course had to ordered in-no problem I thought. Went to get them today and they are wrong they only say acura on them and they do not have the red "A" logo like I wanted, unfortunately all special orders are non-returnable fml.
so did i miss something did Honda discontinue that cap and replace it with this generic one?

I have a buddy that got perfect copies of the decal made and refurbishes his own, 100% identical. The worst part was that the idea came from a set of beatup GM ITR centercaps that I gave him for free.

It's not too hard but you'll need patience to make these yourself...
You will need:
-Championship White spray paint - code NH0-2
-Flat black spray paint
-Clearcoat spray paint
-Printable 8X10 adhesive paper
-sandpaper
-masking tape
-razor blade

1st - Sand down the center cap to a smooth finish. You don't want to feel any part of the original Acura "A" logo.

Spray paint from http://www.automotivetouchup.com/

Championship White

Spray 2 to 3 coats allowing 10 minutes drying time between coats.

Using printable 8X10 adhesive paper, print out an image of the above logo and scale it to the same diameter of your Honda/Acura center cap.

Use a sharp razor blade and free hand cut the H out of the paper. This would probably be the hardest part. You will want to remove 1/2 of the tape backing to properly align the logo on the center of the cap. Canter by applying the part with the backing so it doesn't stick and then when you have finally obtained the desireable position, follow through and tape down the 1/2 side with the sticky tape. Finally, remove the backing from the other half. OR... You can simply eyeball it and apply it all at once.

I used flat black to enhance the red because the red by itself was too red and didn't look OEM. The next two processes can be eliminated if you know the closest color match of the JDM "H".

From Pep-Boys

Spray on the red 2 to 3 coats allowing at least 10 minutes between coats.

Finally, spray on the clear 2 to 3 coats allowing at least 10 minutes between coats.

The final product. It took me several trys to achieve the final result. Hopefully you will be able to do this in one shot. Don't worry, if it didn't come out good, you can start over by sanding it down again.

I hope you are sucessful in duplicating the look of the JDM center caps!
I love my center caps!

How long ago did you order from them? I'm wanting to try and buy a few CW centercaps as well. But I tried ordering from DelRay Acura and I eventually cancelled my order b/c they could not tell when the order would be filled, but this was a few years ago, so I'm assuming it'll be even harder to find now, unless I got super lucky.
i have some brand new in the box id be willing to trade for some new gunmetals pm me if interested.
I don't have any BNIB GM's, I do have some DC5 Type R CW center caps BNIB, and BNIB OEM JDM Type R centercaps in GM. Where did you get your CW's that you want to trade? Would you like to just sell them instead of trade? Thanks!
