clutch slave cylinder

Default clutch slave cylinder

when taking out a 98 civic motor without taking out the tranny.. do you have to disconnect the slave cylinder on the tranny for the block to move freely on the tranny shaft.. or am i just thinking to hard into this??
need help on this one!!!
