My 98 Coupe build thread
I figured I would share my 98 Civic Hx coupe. I bought it about 3 years ago from a friend for $1000 bone stock. I knew right away that I wanted to modify it. It started out with a CAI and axle back exhaust. After doing some research I decided that the D16Y5 was not a motor that I wanted to work with but what to swap in. My answer came when I found a 99 B18B1 nearly complete swap at my uncles shop for $800. After about 6 months of parts gathering the D16 was pulled and the B18 was swapped in with working AC, PS and fully OBD2 compatible. A few months later a 4-2-1 header, 2.5 inch exhaust and Hondata S100 went on the car with a result of 133whp and 127lbft. After a while I started thinking about making more power and the decision to go Vtec was made. I sourced a B16 head had it rebuilt and 3 angle valve job done. After the head swap it was back to the dyno for a retune resulting in 161whp and 125lbft. This is where the car is at now. No for some pics

Thanks been building cars for a while now but this is my first real Honda project. The built block will get ARP head studs stock block is running GSR head bolts. The S300 was out of my budget but would have been nice for the data logging and multi boost maps but oh well, may be when it ends up becomes a track car.
Thanks

^I have to agree. If it's not an Si, it's not an Si.
HOWEVER, the rest of the car looks awesome. Thank you for knowing what you're doing. Most jobs like this are criss-crossed with loose wires melting all over the place, but your bay looks very clean. Great work!

^ Yeah I dont see how people can mess up wiring that bad. It is pretty simple. I used a 98 Dx harness when I did my swap and it all plugged right in except a few plugs that needed to be changed. I get the clean engine bay comment a lot, thank you my goal was to keep it looking like a the motor can in it stock. And I like my Si badge, it is a mini Si clone with a larger block. Still need the Si seats and cluster though. I had thought about putting a Hx badge back on it to mess with people.
Let us know how she goes after the turbo!
^ will keep the thread updated as the turbo kit comes together. It will be a slow build. I added my Auto Meter fuel pressure gauge to my AEM fuel rail today. Yeah! And ordered my waste gate.
