wheel studs
OOMPF
You do realize just to GET to the front hubs is a major PITA.
*Some longer studs require the old stud holes to be knurled or reamed out. If so, you must do this, if not the studs will cause the hub to deform and the studs will not be parallel to each other.*
Procedure Front
Remove engine splash shield.
Remove hubcaps
Un-stake and loosen CV axle nut.
Loosen front lug nuts.
Jack front of car up at front jack point, place jackstands under frame rails.
*If using four, the other two under the front beam bolts at the corners.*
Remove front wheels.
Remove axle nut
Remove flexible brake line bolts to shock, remove line from shock.
Remove flexible brake line bolts to knuckle, remove line from knuckle.
Remove ABS sensor(if equipped) bolts to knuckle, remove sensor.
Remove caliper cage bolts to knuckle(not caliper to caliper cage bolts).
Between the fender lip and upper shock mount there will be a plastic plug, remove it.
With tie wire or twine, tie it around the large center hole in the front caliper, and the other end to the upper shock mount. Hang caliper up high, make sure not to bend/twist flexible brake line hose. Use the plugged hole as a pass through for the wire/twine.
You can also try to hang the caliper/caliper cage off the radius rod.
Remove sway bar end link
Remove cotter pins from tie rod, upper BJ and lower BJ castle nuts.
Remove tie rod nut, flip, reinstall so the flanged part is flush with the stud. Strike with a hammer to pop tie rod free. Remove nut, remove tierod.
Remove upper BJ nut. Flip and reinstall it so it is flush with the bottom of the stud.
Strike with a hammer to pop the upper BJ free. Leave nut on for the moment.
Remove lower BJ nut. Flip and reinstall it so it is flush with the bottom of the stud.
Using a floor jack, place the cup directly under the inverted nut and jack the arm up via the nut. It should pop free, you may need to strike the lower control arm with a hammer with a stubborn stud. Lower jack. Remove nut, remove BJ from FLCA.
Remove upper BJ nut.
Pull knuckle away from the body, and remove the stub axle. Be careful of outer CV boot, wrap in rag/towel for protection.
Remove the four bearing bolts, replace with longer bolts.
Wear ear plugs/muffs.
Using 5lb single jack(mini-sledge) and using an assistant(or some means of securing the upper portion of the upright to a work bench) leave the hub/rotor/bearing overhang the bench, begin hitting the heads of the longer bolts in a star pattern until the bearing is free from the upright.
Remove longer bolts, remove hub/rotor/bearing assembly.
Remove four hub to rotor bolts.
Remove rotor.
*fun part* Remove bearing from hub.
Remove studs from hub.
Knurl or ream out stud holes, if needed.
Install new studs.

I have removed the upper ball joints but the lower won't budge. Are there any suggestions on how to get the knuckle free from the lower ball joint? I have tried a jack and a hammer. No success either way.

Jack the lower arm all the way up then put a 1/2 inch Craftsman ratchet in the space right behind the ball joint ,let jack down fast and it will pop it out. Look for the Eric the car guy videos on you tube will save you alot of time. also DO NOT BEAT YOUR BEARING OUT you will have to replace it use a puller
well everything is pressed and put back together but I have this horrible scraping noise and some drag on the driver side front wheel. Any suggestions on what it may be and how to fix it?
