I'm just might be an idiot?
I bought a 93 Prelude Si in July for a price I'm too embarrassed to admit. However, the car is Beautiful, not even a door ding. Had 132,237 mi. on it - now has 141,1141. Prelude ran perfect at purchase, but the a/c quit blowing cold air one week after I bought it. Had the control regulator replaced, which is fine, but since then it has started to run like crap. Has no power (and this is w/o a/c on). Had a burning smell so I checked the oil, and it showed nothing on the dipstick! Added required type, and the burning smell went away, but still runs bad. Idles so hard that the car shakes and vibrates like its taking off. Check the oil repeatedly and sometimes will show empty, a qt. low, over full etc. It is leaking, however, which is obvious. When I shift from second and higher, it's as if the engine is sticking, and then releases with a hard jerking. Oh, and when I start the engine it sounds like it's going to fall out from under the car. I don't know, this is a lot of stuff, but it's all become an issue at the same time, and I don't know where to start. Can anyone help me?

Well I would figure out where the oil is leaking from. OR if it is not leaking and it is burning it off that is a good sign of oil ring problems, which would explain the smel, noise and shaking of the engine..... Sorry for the bad news
Bad news is better than none at all. I was smart enough to buy a warranty that covers just about everything under the hood etc. I very much appreciate your input and will have that looked at. Thank you again.

No one can properly tell you what to do when you yourself don't even know what you are looking at and cannot explain properly what is going on. Take it to someone who knows how to fix cars if you don't.
I wrote back in November that my 93 Prelude si had a problem with a burning smell that seemed to come from under the hood where most of the electrical wiring is. Also, the idle was very rough and very loud, vibrating so hard that everything inside the car has become loose and rattles. Well, I took my honda to Hontech and they diagnosed it to be a broken exhaust manifold bolt and the oil ring needed to be replaced. This hasn't been fixed yet because I cannot afford what they want to charge me, AND my pathetic and useless warranty doesn't cover this type of problem(s). They said that is won't hurt anything leaving it this way it will just be loud and smell like its burning. Well, it's now February and my Prelude is driving like total crap! I know I need to fix these problems, but I feel like it's creating more. The car has little power and seems to struggle at high speeds. It's also sticking or jerking when I shift gears. Im at a desperate point and need to get some good advice from someone who will tell me what to do. SOMEONE THAT KNOWS and has nothing to lose or gain from my problem.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
For the exhaust manifold bolt, is broken off at the head? or you can see the tip of it?
You can always take it to an exhaust/muffler shop for them to look at it?
Does the check engine light come on?
When you bought the car did you check the oil before you gave your money to the seller? You make it seem like you didn't even check the oil before you made the purchase and were very surprised to find out that there wasn't any oil showing on the dipstick when you did check it. How long was it from the time you purchased the car to the time you checked the oil? That could be the reason why you're having all your troubles, running your car without oil..

minilogoguy18 First of all didn't say I knew how to fix the car, so taking it to someone that does is obviously what I will do. I was explaining the problems to get some feedback before I return to Hontech and let them fix the problems they said I had.
Apex1972 OMFG right back at ya
motegicivic...its broken off (an after market part the warranty company said) thats why they wont cover it. The check engine light does NOT come on. I actually found someone who knows Hondas and Acuras and is going to fix it for me only charging for the parts. Thanks for a respectable reply.
Angry Agent. The prelude had just passed a multi point inspection, as well as a clean carfax history, both mechanical and body. This was a perfect vehicle with lower miles than any other new prelude I looked at. It ran beautifully.
megomaniac you go lease a car.

This thread won't go anywhere. You have way too many problems happening at once, and nothing viable to diagnose.
You need to take it to a shop. Have someone with experience give you a proper analysis.

that being said you got a lot of sh*t going on at once, take it to somebody to figure out what to tackle first and go from there.
I just wanted to tell you that you are so foul. There is no reason for any of your rude responses to my question. No, I'm not an expert on vehicles, that is why I thought I would try this Forum. But, I didn't try it so that people like you could say the rude **** you do [Apex]. Honestly you're exactly right, this world is going to hell, and you're a perfect example of why.
With that's beinging said did anyone c that Yankee game last nite? Just trying to help break the tension in the forum.
Yes this world is going to hell but there is a way not to go with it ( if u don't know that is) One and only one way to not make it to hell. If u want to know hit the good book!

Apex relax just because the member doesnt know exactly what to do doesnt give you the reason to slam him. He is asking for advice thats it.
