Car won't start, just my luck
Today I went to my car and started it just like everyday. I let it warm up for about five minutes and then drive. After 2 minutes the car died and would not start. I tried numerous times after that and it will try to start but it will not start. I'm assuming its the ignition control module because the same thing happened to me about 6 months ago while I was driving. Two questions, 1. How can I find out that is is the ICM and 2. If it is, what would cause it to burn out after only 6 months?
is it a 97-up lude? There was a recent recall on them - for similar problems. The ignition is bad - electrical contacts in the swith can wear prematurely causing the engine to stall for no reason. The recall says it will turn back over, which isn't your case, but maybe you can get a new ignition for free out of it
my battery is fine, everything else works like the radio and windows, locks, etc. I also had the alternator changed back in Janurary. Also, it is a 93 so I don't think that the recall would apply to it
Letting your car warm up for longer than 30 seconds is unnessary. In fact I head it is bad for it because your cars oil pressure is very low at idle. Is this correct??
That part is true. Also, start driving immediately after startup if possible so the engine will warm up as quickly as possible (warmup takes longer if sitting idle), but don't turn the engine unnecessary RPMs untill full warmup to avoid excessive wear.

I have been letting it warm up until the second bar of the oil temp guage lights up which takes about 5 minutes. Since I have been doing that my car has been running better, before it would run sketchy if I started it up and drove it immediately. Well, I am about to go down to see if it is the ICM, let you guys know what happens.
Hve you checked to see if you have any ECU codes? If I had to guess I would say that you have something wrong with your distributor. Does the enge start to start but won't really get going? You should check to see if you have any ecu codes first off.
Nope, I have the JDM ECU in it and it is not setting off any codes. Does anyone know how to test the voltage between the ICM and the ECM? There is a series of tests to do in my Helms manual and that isthe only one I don't know how to do because I don't know where the wire coming from the ECM is to do this test.
