GSR redlines at 3.3k?
I have a 96 Ek hatch with a GSR. well ill start out how it happened. It ran fine one day the next day i strarted it up, started fine went down the road, went to rip on it and bounced at 3.3k. No idea i checked for the CEL i was getting 15 and 41, So for one i needed a new harness cause it was chopped so i got a new y7 put that on and got a new chipped ECU. i put it in ran fine. But the chipped had higher redline and two step so i went to use them. redlined at 7k and non of my tunes were in it. So i looked into the ECU there was a On/off switched turned it on and now its back to the 3.3k Redline? I need some help im getting fed up trying to figure out what it could be.
Im just trying to get someone to look i need this figured out ASAP. i have no idea what it could be. im trying to get it ready so i can go to Maryland tomorrow and its not being friendly
If it's that big of an emergency then take it to a shop. You are aware it is the weekend and not everyone that is even on the forum is capable of answering your question?
Address the CEL codes that you forced when you "ripped on it". Since it is not a stock ECU, it could be anything.
15 Ignition output signal
41 Primary oxygen sensor heater

no cause on my ecu i can turn it On or off and when i turn the ecu switch on it does it and when i turn it off its fine. I have no idea i still can't figure it out i got a new ecu to and it still does it. and for CEL 15 could my distributor cap and rotor being bad cause it?

I got it to work. It was throwing cel 15. I'll still post these pictures and no it's a lil switch by the chip the size of a pen tip. Had to check the distributor. Thanks for your input I'll post those when I get a chance. It was running in limp. Wierd but if anyone has this problem the way I fixed it was I put my chip in another p28 it rebase map te chip to work. Wierd but worked.

The switch that he is talking about is common. When you chip an ecu there is a jumper that you have to use, if you switch the jumper you can actually run the ECU as stock, otherwise you run the map that has been loaded to the chip.
This might be an old thread but I had to say this, came across it while having a different problem on a GSR swap.

I believe it's labeled RP18, grumble. Cut the wire to run the stock tune, solder a wire in to run the chip. It's also possible to run two different tunes this way, if you can replace the "factory" tune with something else.
