Default Are my rpm's right

96 civic EX Auto

When I am on the highway say going 85 plus my rpm's is just hitting 4k plus is that right?

Also, if you are running that high does vtec stay engaged?

Yeah thats about right, my civic CX auto will be around 3500rpm at 120kph/75mph.

I think I drive too fast, I average 85 to 90 on the highway, kills my gas mileage.

Another quick question, when I start out I am up about 4k rpms in first is high? If I do not go that high the car is kinda slow.

I believe the VTEC switchover is 5,600 rpm, assuming you have the Y8. So no, at that RPM you shouldn't be running in VTEC.

sounds about right...i'm right at 4000-4100 when im doin 85 in my 5spd d16z6...vtec on mine doesnt engage till 5200rpms...but no matter wat engine u have u should be near vtec at 4k
